Step 2: Verify Domain Contact Information

Before initiating the transaction, please double check your personal information. You should also confirm that the contact details provided are correct.

  • To initiate the transfer, click the Transfer button at the top right corner of the page.
  • Enter the recipient’s name, email address, and phone number. Ensure that the contact information is correct before submitting the request.
  • Ensure your administrative email address is accurate and accessible at all times.
  • You should also check any other email addresses you may have, especially if you will be away from your computer for an extended period of time.
  • If you need to update your email address, go to the Administrative tab, then click Save.

Step 3: Unlock Your domain

You need an account at GoDaddy to transfer your domain name.

  • You will need to log in to your account, scroll down to the Additional Settings section, then locate the Domain Lock status.
  • If Domain Lock is on, you will see a button labeled Edit.
  • Click this button to unlock the domain.
  • Then click Continue. A message will appear saying “Pending Update.” This means GoDaddy needs to process your domain unlock request.
  • Once GoDaddy processes your request, you will receive a confirmation message.

Step 4: Transfer Your Domain

Once your site is ready, you can easily move your domain to Squarespace. This will allow you to manage everything on your site from one place.

Squarespace can even help with any issues with the domain name itself. If the domain does not meet Squarespace’s requirements, or if you need a complicated registration setup, you can link it instead.

You can add multiple domains at once for $20 – $70 per year. All Squarespace websites on an annual billing plan come with one free custom domain for a year, plus additional domains for $10–40 per year.
