What Are The Different Types Of Search Queries?

When someone searches for your company, the SERP displays after the search. These results are called “navigational” because people aren’t typing the entire URL for your website. You can buy ads for your company name, for example.

Search engines return different types of results depending on how you phrase your query. For example, if I was searching for “How do I make my website rank higher?”, I might expect Google to show me a list of websites ranked by popularity. 

But if I were looking for “How do I get more traffic to my site?”, I’d expect Google to show me links to other websites that provide information about increasing traffic.

A person makes an informational query by searching for information about a topic. The searcher doesn’t usually look to buy anything, but the right content can drive them to a specific brand. 

Adding multimedia content to your website can be a particularly effective method of generating traffic from informational queries. Some common examples include:

– Slideshows

– Podcasts

Your company should create a video explaining what you do. You may want to include a link to your website, but you shouldn’t use this as an opportunity to promote yourself. Instead, focus on creating content that will help people understand your business better.

Transactional Queries 

People use transactional queries to buy products online. These types of searches often result in paid ads. Organic search results also show up, but these aren’t as important because the ads are more likely to be clicked.

Paid ads are very effective. According to research by online advertising company Wordstream, almost 65 percent of clicks on transactional search results happen on paid ads.

We have to account for what shows up on a SERP, including images, videos, shopping, local search results, and even featured snippets.

Featured snippets are summaries that show up at the top of a search engine result page (SERP). They are extracted automatically from a page that ranks high in the search results. A featured snippet draws user attention to the top result.
